Caliterra: presenting the “Chilean Sustainability Code” at Prowein 2010.

Prowein is the international leading trade fair for the wine and spirits business, and it’s one of world’s most important international trade fairs. Leading academics, wine educators and journalists were set to participate in a series of seminars in what marks the first collaboration of its kind, when five New World wine-producing countries join forces at Prowein 2010.

The members of the New World grouping, represented by the generic wine marketing bodies of Chile, Argentina, California, New Zealand and South Africa jointly presented a series of seminars under the banner, Down To Earth. Amongst the issues they covered were sustainability, climate, terroir, as well as innovation in wine-growing, winemaking and marketing.

Rodrigo Plass, Caliterra’s Regional Director for Central Europe presented the “Chilean Sustainability Code”. The code is the sustainable protocol that has been developed between the University of Talca and Caliterra, and which will be the Sustainability Certification for the Chilean Wine Industry. The objectives of the code is to emphasize high quality wine elaboration based on high standards of environmental quality, protecting the health of the consumer and our coworkers, respecting the environment (flora and fauna), working strongly united to the community and preserving the natural landscape for future generations.
