A total of 10,983 wines were entered in this The Decanter World Wine Awards 2010, more than double the number of entries to the first competition seven years ago. There had been earlier concerns that the numbers might be down due to natural disasters in Chile, Madeira and Turkey. But the surprise bumper result confirmed the Decanter World Wine Awards as the largest international consumer wine competition.
