Caliterra works in harmony with the environment and the residents of the Colchagua Valley placing emphasis on our Chilean roots and the purity of nature in every bunch of grapes picked.
By working under a sustainable philosophy we want to demonstrate care for the environment and the commitment we have with our community.
Since our beginnings, Caliterra has made high quality wines working in harmony with the environment in accordance with the Good Agricultural Practices and Clean Production protocols.
The Caliterra Estate, of approximately 1,085 hectares, has a 75% of virgin lands and includes 55 hectares in transition to organic agriculture.
The sustainable viticultural techniques used in the Caliterra vineyards include integrated plant management, green-label organic plant health programs, product rotation, development of habitat breakers, optimization of water resources, efficient energy use, reincorporation of organic matter, precision agriculture and industrial waste treatment.
Caliterra also seeks to protect its natural resources and the environment by avoiding erosion, using wild horses to prevent fires, reforesting, etc. Likewise, the human dimension of the sustainable concept includes community actions such as study, training and risk prevention programs for our workers and support for our community schools and families.
Sergio Cuadra, Caliterra’s winemaker comments: “it’s not about making only high quality wine anymore. It’s about making it with a careful awareness to help assure the natural resources for our grandsons and beyond”.
